The Future of Kharadi — Pune
Pune, once a retirement paradise, is today tipped to be a major metro once infrastructure is in place.
I have seen Pune change from a Tier 3 to a Tier 2 city, and hope to see it as a major metro with a boost in infrastructure. Connectivity between East and West, and vice versa, should become quick.
Today, apart from being an educational hub, Pune boasts of being a manufacturing hub with many IT and ITeS companies, thus creating employment. The traffic — which is alarming — shows signs of growth, and infrastructure has not kept pace with real estate development. The metro routes are planned and work has commenced. There are ring roads coming up.
I have heard of an elevated road coming up from Kharadi with exits at Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park and Bund Garden, which will go on till the expressway. Entering Pune from the expressway should take approximately 22 minutes up to Kharadi. A new international airport is proposed, and the existing airport is under expansion.
The internal roads of Kharadi are fantastic and well planned. I think Kharadi is the next destination one could look at. Though the complete infrastructure might take 3–5 years, this would be a good time to invest — and the neighbouring areas will also benefit from the infrastructure expansion. Kharadi has excellent residential and commercial spaces, and with good roads and a metro coming up, it’s an excellent choice for relocating and investing.
